Nora Khaldi, Mathematician and Chief Scientist
Nora Khaldi founded Nuritas in 2014. It’s the first company in the world to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) and DNA analysis to the food arena to discover new disease-beating molecules in food. It’s now one of Ireland’s fastest-growing start-ups, and Khaldi won the prestigious Woman of the Decade in Business and Leadership Award at the 2017 Women Economic Forum.
June Blake, Gardener
June was born in West Wicklow, where she still lives on the family farm. Initially, she trained as a jeweller but in 2002, she drifted into gardening, and realised that this was her true passion. Her stunning garden is situated around her home in Tinode. It was included in the list of 'The 100 Best Gardens in Ireland'.
Gill Massey, Funeral Director
Gill is often the first person a bereaved family will meet after the loss of a loved one. Being an undertaker can feel a lot like being a therapist. In the beginning, she found the work difficult, but over the years she has discovered that helping people through the hardest days imaginable, is its own reward.

Bridget was raised in a very traditional Catholic home. The religion she knew as a child involved a lot of fear, and instinctively she felt that fear as part of religion was wrong. She became an accountant. But once she met the Unitarian Church community in Dublin, her life completely changed.
Aoife Brown, TV Lighting Director
When Aoife was fourteen years old, she decided she wanted a life in showbiz. She is pretty close working for RTÉ, Ireland’s national broadcaster as a TV Lighting Director. Globally, her role is very male-dominated, Aoife is one of few women who are doing “sparks”.
Glenda Powell, Fisherwoman
Glenda began fishing seriously at the age of nine when her uncle left her his fishing rods. When she was eighteen, she told her father she was going fishing for the rest of her life. A qualified fly casting instructor, she went on to become a world champion, and is currently the chairperson of the professional Game Angling Instructors Association in Ireland.
Kellie Harrington, Boxer
Dublin light welterweight Kelly Harrington won gold medal in the lightweight division at the 2018 Women's World Boxing Championships and silver in the 2016 Women’s World Boxing Championships held in Kazakhstan. She helps to train kids in her local boxing club and is part of the drive that has seen women’s membership of boxing clubs in Ireland rise from about 5% in 2005 to an estimated 25% currently.
Lisa Levins Burgess, Navigator, RNLI Lifeboat Service
As a child in Clogherhead, Lisa Levins Burgess would hear the maroons – noisy flares announcing the launch of the lifeboat – and go with her parents to the beach to watch the rescue set out. She always admired the crew and wanted to join “but there were no girls”. Undaunted, in 1995 she became the first woman to join the crew in Clogherhead and today she is a navigator for the station.
Danielle Barry, Michelin Star Chef
Danielle is the only female Michelin Star Chef in Ireland. Her career began when she started washing pots in a local restaurant. One of Dannielle’s joys in her work is the thrill that comes from seeing or hearing a restaurant full of all kinds of people and knowing that she is a part of it.
Úna Kavanagh, Artist
Una is best known as an actor in Ireland’s national soap opera, however, her heart lies in the art studio where she works alone creating sculpture and multimedia projects. She have studied with and inspirational teacher in Ballyfermot senior college and her portfolio was accepted to the National College of Art and Design where she moved straight into second year of a B.A. in craft design.
