Laura is one of very few female prison officers in Ireland. Her job involves dealing with many different types of people, services and sectors. At heart, she is a hippie, soft hearted and happy-go-lucky. “We are only human and I try to treat people as I would like to be treated,” she says.

Gill is often the first person a bereaved family will meet after the loss of a loved one. Being an undertaker can feel a lot like being a therapist. In the beginning, she found the work difficult, but over the years she has discovered that helping people through the hardest days imaginable, is its own reward.

Bridget was raised in a very traditional Catholic home. The religion she knew as a child involved a lot of fear, and instinctively she felt that fear as part of religion was wrong. She became an accountant. But once she met the Unitarian Church community in Dublin, her life completely changed.
