Una Gildea, Illustrator
Una works in collage and cut-out animation. Her work has been widely exhibited and her films have screened at festivals worldwide. Her work is archived in the collections of Dublin City University, and the Irish Contemporary Art Society. Now living and working in Dublin, Una loves the challenge of creating a visual that nails exactly what her clients are looking for.
With her collage work, it is the challenge and excitement of creating something new from that which already has a meaning or context, like old books and magazines. Despite digital advancements, her work is entirely analogue. The tools of her trade are a cutting board and an exacto knife. Her passions? Collage, stop-motion animation, her dog called Patch and life.
I can be a gardener, a DIY enthusiast, a teacher, but I am essentially the same person. My work, my creative process is part of my life, there is no separation.
