Mia van Evelingen, Upholsterer

mia.jpg

Originally from Sweden, Mia moved to Dublin in 2001 to develop her skills in design, arts and crafts. A trained upholsterer and a single mother, she also worked on theatre set design, and construction, before eventually starting her own upholstery business. Mia loves the joy she gets from her work; to transform and rejuvenate something old is both rewarding and satisfying every time, not to mention therapeutic. She relishes each chance to bring an old ragged piece of furniture back to new life.

The combination of “hands on” physical work as well as the more creative attention to detail that upholstery requires, provides the perfect combination. According to her daughter Eileen, she’s a mum who makes art and brings her on trips and holidays to different places.

I am positively curious about what is around the corner and behind the next door.
