Deirdre Sinclair, Bus Driver

When Dublin Bus introduced the City Imps, a form of minibus, Deirdre’s brother saw a driver’s job advertised, and convinced her to apply. Having had her children young, Deirdre always felt she had missed out on a career, and this seemed like it might be an opportunity to do something for herself. Married at the age of twenty, and since divorced, Deirdre is looking forward to discovering what the future holds for her. She loves the freedomshe gets driving around the city in her work. No two days are the same. Her route covers the Zoo and Phoenix Park, and though people often ask her if she gets bored driving the same route all the time – she doesn’t. Deirdreloves Dublin at all times of year, from the hustle and bustle of Christmas and its lights, to the tourist-filled summer. With her regular passengers, she likes that she has become part of people’s daily routine.

First and foremost, when I’m not working, I’m a mother. My passion is my children. They are also my greatest achievement, all beautiful women with good jobs, I'm very lucky.
