Reconnect the Disconnected is a community-academic partnership between Dublin South City Partnership and TU Dublin Aungier Street, initiated in January 2026. Working alongside ecologists, architects, chemists, educators, social enterprises and over fifty volunteers, the project transformed a neglected concrete courtyard of TU Dublin building into a biodiverse garden. Native trees, handmade timber benches, community-built planters and a bee hotel are now in a space shared by students and local residents.

We were participating and documenting the story of the project from first pencil sketch to final planting, taking photographs and videos, writing the exhibition panels and connecting people across institutions and communities.

The project is a case study in community organisation as activator of institutional space and testament to what becomes possible when people leave meeting rooms and start working together.
